Hungary “Sárréti Csókavirág”

For many years the International Festival of Highland Folklore has been honouring guests from the country of sunflowers and wine. Although a predominantly lowland country, Hungary can also boast of highland folklore. This time the Hungarian dances and music will appear on the festival stage with the Sárréti Csókavirág Folk Dance Ensemble, founded seven years ago in Sárbogárd. The town is situated in the central part of the country, but the artists do not limit their folklore exploration to one region. The award-winning dancers will present different varieties of czard, characteristic of the multicultural region of Szatmár (eastern Hungary). You will see staging inspired by the tradition of the people living around the Mecsek mountain range (Zengö peak is 662 metres a.s.l.) The members will present extended toasts, weddings and games, neighbourhood meetings in the front of the church, all accompanied by a traditional band of violin, viola, double bass and cymbals.
