The group was founded in 2004 and operates at the municipal cultural centre in Biały Dunajec in the Podhale region. They cultivate vibrant highlanders folklore traditions, which have been presented many times on the stages in Poland and abroad.
Their repertoire consists of songs, dances, music and Podhale highlanders rites, including artistic programs, such as, “Wilijo”, Radośniki”, “Wedding” and “Carols.”
During the festival in Zakopane they will present the program, “Bursa”, an old custom name, which disappeared in the early 20th century. “Bursa” was arranged in the host’s home, or in an abandoned cottage. The organizers were farmhands, mostly bachelors, dressed according to the role that they played, such as: champion, commune head, salesman, forester, gypsy and the old man. In the autumn “Busiorki” collected in the whole village gifts, such as: potatoes, cereal, meat and pork fat.
Farmers who did not donate anything had tricks played on them. At the end of carnival fun time was arranged, with highlanders music. Earlier on the farmers were presented with home- made beer.
In the program are shown characteristics of the late 19th century, such as, Farbanice” (skirts), which were superseded in the 20th century by factory made materials.
