The ensemble was founded in 1982 in the Spanish town of Extremadura with the idea of establishing the revival of the local musical tradition, but soon its members began to research the folklore of the other regions of the country. Over the years they collected music and elements of traditional eighteenth century costumes well known from famous paintings of Francisco Goya.
The group has participated in several Spanish and international folklore festivals, during which they drew attention to their original program, containing not only
a dance show, but also the Spanish customs associated with the grape harvest and pilgrimage.
Our guests from Spain during their performances repeatedly change outfits and show a variety of dances in their repertoire.
During this year’s International Festival of Highland Folklore in Zakopane we will see a program of dances from Andalusia and Extremadura (including bolero, rondena, jota and fandango). The group’s headquarters is in Madrid. There will also be dances from the capital and other cities in the region, over which dominates the Sierra de Guadarrama, with the highest peak of Peñalara at 2,430 metres a.s.l).
