The group Priv Partizan from Serbia was formed in 1948 in the town of Uzice (Zlatiborski distict) on the initiative of the workers from the company of the same
name.
The town of Uzice is located in western Serbia on the banks of the river Djetinja, surrounded by picturesque mountain ranges and peaks of Zlatibor; the highest
peak is Tornik at 1,496 metres. Inspiration for their repertoire they derive from traditions and cultural landscape of Uzice and the region.
In the Zakopane festival group will present the traditional collective folk dance the “kolo”, where a group of people (usually several dozen, at the very least three) holding each other by the hands or around the waist, dance, ideally in a circle, hence the name. There is almost no movement above the waist. The dance is accompanied by instrumental two-beat music with the same name, made most often with an accordion, but also with other instruments: frula (traditional kind of a recorder), tamburica, šargija, zurla, gajde, tapan, or harmonica. Dance čoček that exists in Bulgaria and Macedonia as well and traditional folk dances from Kosovo and Metohija are regarded the most beautiful and graceful of Serbian dances, these dances of rich aesthetics have been preserved for centuries.
