The ensemble Crvena Stijena was set up in 2006, at the association of Culture and Arts of the same name. The name comes from the Red Rocks, a cave situated among
the hills of Velje Brdo, which surround the capital of the state: Podgorica.
The group was formed at the initiative of the Montenegrin known ethnologist, Drasko Savkovic.
Despite the short time of existence it has already taken part in major European folk festivals, including in Romania, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia and Poland.
Montenegro is charmed with unpredictable, beautiful and cruel nature, which inspires the group members.
A significant majority of the territory is mountainous Montenegro – Durmitor and Lovcen and part of northern Albanian Montenegro, with the highest peak of Zla
Kolata (2,534 metres a.s.l.), which is in the Dinaric mountains.
The presence of the mountains shaped the life of Montenegrins and is also reflected in their folklore music, which we will have the opportunity to see on the
Zakopane Festival.
Our guests from the south of Europe will present, among others, Montenegrin national dance: “Cronogorsko Oro”, a combination of dance, song and narrative that
capture the fortitude of the people of Montenegro and tell us about their hard, poor life.
